Vernon "Skip" Elmer Weimer

“For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16 Skip left this temporary life and entered into eternal life on September 22, 2019. As 2 Corinthians 5:8 says, skip “would rather be absent from the body and present with the Lord.”

He was born in a cabin on the confluence of Troublesome Creek and the Grand River to Martha May and Elmer Leo Weimer. He has one brother, Charles Albert. They were raised on the Weimer Ranch on Smith Creek, north of Parshall. He first attended a country one-room schoolhouse and later school in Hot Sulphur Springs before graduating from Middle Park High School.

He was a hard worker his whole life. He worked for Roy Arnold, helping to build the Chuck Wagon Café. He also worked for Morris Long at Long’s Hardware, and then George Mackley at Park Lumber. He became a manager of Park Lumber for several years before moving on to the supply department and the Henderson Mill. He loved working at the Mill and the Williams Fork Valley. He always appreciated the mining industry and the pay benefits they offered. He eventually retired after working as supply manager for 20 years.

He married Laura Evelyn Moser on November 18, 1951. That union lasted for 66 years until his death. He was a caring father who passed on his work ethic to his sons.

He believed that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God. A lot of people talk about the dead as being in a better place, but that is only true through Jesus Christ.

He and Laura moved back to the ranch after retirement and also purchased a home in Florence, Arizona. They both loved the Sonoran Desert, and he and his family spent many happy times there. They finally settled at Innsbruck in Granby, CO, where the have lived the past 10 years.

He is survived by his wife Laura and his sons Terry (Vanetta), Mike (Neena) and Doug. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Rod Weimer, Casey Weimer, and Heather Boomer as well as ten great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held to honor Skip's life on Saturday October 5, 2019 at 11:00am. The service will be held a the Church of Eternal Hills, Granby Colorado.
