Ronald (Ron) Malcolm Mahorney, 79 of Kremmling, Colorado passed away on May 16, 2023.
He was born April 16, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was raised on a small farm in Shelby County, Indiana by his grandparents Calvin and Jossie Bassett. He graduated from Triton High School in Fairland, IN.
Ron enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964 as a Machinist Mate. He served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Oriskany. He then transferred to the USS Isle Royale to serve with his brother Larry until being honorably discharged in 1968.
After serving his country, he became a renowned electrician in the greater Indianapolis region. Despite a hard-working career, he never failed as a father to provide valuable life lessons through a highly active and adventure filled fatherhood.
He retired to Madison, IN and built his dream home overlooking the Ohio River drafted in part by his oldest son Mark. Ron completed his retirement dream by moving to the mountains of Colorado in 2012.
He enjoyed wood working, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by mother, Helen Pitcher, father, Malcolm Mahorney, and wife, Marian Shafer.
He is survived by stepfather, Paul Pitcher (Francis), brother, Larry Mahorney (Karen), sons, Mark Mahorney and David Mahorney (Virginia), 3 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and numerous step great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held May 26, 2023, at the Riverside Cemetery, Kremmling, CO at 1:00 pm.
After the service the family will receive visitors at Ron’s home ( 217 County Road 100, Blue Valley Acres, Kremmling) starting at 4pm
