David was born in Vail and lived in Leadville as a baby, then was raised in Granby, Colorado but throughout the years saw much of the world through his travels. He was a son, brother, dad, friend. He was kind and caring and had a passion for helping other people whether it was through peer recovery coaching in the sober living community or making someone a meal just to make them feel special or give them something they could enjoy. He loved being a chef and cooking delicious food. He loved his family and friends.
He was passionate about music. When he was little he would dance around the house singing songs he made up. As he grew up one of his favorite pastimes was sitting in the Gambles truck along side his brother and learning about all the good music, going to concerts whether it be Ween or STS9. He could even sing every word to all of Frank Sinatra's greatests hits. He used to play his favorite band Alkaline Trio on repeat and then one more time just to annoy his sister.
Through much of his own struggles he still helped anyone he could and who needed it. He was so full of light and could make anyone laugh. He was caring and compassionate and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was smart, quick witted, and as often as he found himself on the wrong side of trouble he usually always came out better than when he went in. He lived a full life with lots of adventures and stories to tell. His memory, funny antics and caring heart will be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his parents Cheri and Gary Salberg, son Leo Salberg, twin sister Dani Salberg, and brother Garrett Salberg, as well as his nieces and nephews Gavyn, Cadence, Ophelia, Jaxyn, and Kamryn.
In Lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Tame Wellness Inc. in David's name. David was very involved in the sober living community and had a passion for helping others.
