Daryl Richard Newman

Granby, Colorado

Daryl Richard Newman of Granby, CO & U.S. Navy veteran, passed away June 1st, 2023, surrounded by family, at age 73 from pancreatic cancer. 

 

Daryl was predeceased by his father, Richard Newman. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Newman, wife, Karen Newman, brothers, Dan (Jeanette) Newman and Dave Newman, sister, Vicki (Dick) Walser, 6 children; Amy (Matt) Bershinsky, Jeremy Newman, Nick Newman, Leigh Ann (Trevor) Stiverson, Amy (Aaron) Yessick, and Matt (Nicole) Pyland and 20 grandchildren.

 

Daryl attended schools in Great Falls, MT, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1969. He was very involved with music, playing the trumpet and being a drum major of GFHS marching band. He was very active in Boy Scouts, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout from VFW Troop 23. He attended the University of Northern Colorado, graduating with a degree in Deaf Education. He attended Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island and was commissioned as an ensign. Daryl served in the Navy as a flight navigator for P-3’s. He was deployed to Japan and operated in the Pacific where they flew reconnaissance flights over the ocean, including the Vietnam region.

 

If you were blessed to know Daryl, you know he was one of a kind. He was strong, driven, funny, had a mighty faith and a kind heart.

 

We will be celebrating Daryl’s life the morning of Saturday, July 8th, 10:00am at the Legacy Park Pavilion. Please bring a folding chair for your seating.

·       Left on CR 6236

·       Stay on this for 1.1 miles

·       Left on CR 62362 you will see an old windmill

·       Stay on this for .1 mile

·       Right on 6237

·       Stay on this for .3 miles

·       Turn right onto CR 6236N follow for 1.2 miles to the top of the hill.

        the Pavilion is on the right, there are three picnic tables under a Gazebo

 

 

From Grand Lake:

·       US 34

·       Turn left onto CR 623

·       Stay on this for .5 miles up the hill

·       Turn left on CR 6233

·       Stay on this for .1 miles

·       Turn left onto CR 6234

·       Stay on this for .5 miles

·       Turn right on CR 6236N for approximately .7 miles

·       The Pavilion will be on your left, there are three picnic tables under a Gazebo
